As a Peaberry lot, the beans develop as a single rounded seed inside the cherry rather than two separate seeds. Peaberries are often prized for their concentrated sweetness, bright acidity, and dense structure.

1. Kenya - Jokimwa Estate PB (Washed)

This coffee comes from Jokimwa Estate in Kericho County, Kenya, owned by John Kigoi Mwangi and his family. Established in 2020, the estate works together with around 95 smallholder farmers, many of them family members, who process their coffee directly at their farms.

Located between 1700 and 1800 meter, the farm benefits from deep red volcanic soil and a cool climate that supports slow cherry maturation and expressive cup profiles.

Only the ripest cherries are selectively handpicked before processing. After sorting, the coffee is pulped and fermented for 12 to 24 hours, followed by washing and soaking in clean water to enhance clarity and sweetness.

The parchment is then dried slowly on raised beds for approximately 15 to 21 days. During drying, the coffee is turned regularly and protected from strong sun and moisture to ensure stable and even drying.

2. Burundi - Nemba (Natural)

This coffee comes from Nemba washing station in Kayanza, Burundi, working with over 1,000 smallholder farmers. Each farmer cultivates small plots, often around 150 trees, at altitudes of 1700 m.a.s.l. near the Kibira forest. The station is managed by an agronomist who supports farmers with training, tools, and agronomic guidance, helping improve quality and consistency across the region.

Only the ripest cherries are handpicked and carefully sorted before drying. The coffee is processed as a natural, with the whole fruit dried slowly on raised beds and turned regularly for even drying. This method builds fruit intensity while maintaining clarity and structure in the cup.

Red Bourbon is the dominant variety in Burundi, known for its balance, sweetness, and clean structure. Grown at high altitude, it develops layered acidity and refined fruit character. Expect a juicy, sweet and structured cup with ripe fruit sweetness. The profile is sweet and clean with a rounded body and floral, tea-like complexity in the finish.
