Blommers started in 2013 with a simple idea: coffee the way it was meant to be, for anyone willing to pay attention. We select, roast and share coffees that have something worth saying. From the farmer who harvests them to the cup you brew.
Specialty coffee tastes different from what you may be used to. Lighter, brighter, with flavours you would not expect in a cup of coffee. Fruity, floral, nutty. That is not by accident. It is what is in the bean, and what we try to preserve at every step of the process.
Founded in 2013 in Nijmegen. Founded in 2013 in Nijmegen. Many of our team know each other from the local coffee scene. We have grown, but the way we work has stayed the same. Close to the coffee, close to the people who drink it. We have grown, but the way we work has stayed the same. Close to the coffee, close to the people who drink it.
Our approach to roasting is precise and intentional. We continuously refine our methods to bring out the full potential of each coffee. This dedication results in vibrant, nuanced flavours that offer an authentic experience, whether enjoyed in cafes, restaurants, or at home.
We started from the inspiration of biodynamic coffee. Soil, biodiversity and nature are not secondary concerns for us, but pillars of the way we work.
Conventionally produced commercial coffee places a heavy burden on the environment. Sustainably produced specialty coffee has a much lower impact, and with the right approach can even give something back to the soil and the environment in which it grows.
We are involved in projects such as coffee by sail and agroforestry, through which we support biodiversity and soil health and help farmers diversify their income. Sharing knowledge is a fixed part of that. Not as a side note, but as part of how we work.
Our team competes in national and international coffee championships. The results speak for themselves. But what matters to us is what we learn along the way.
We are based at the NYMA site in Nijmegen, a former textile factory that is now home to creative businesses and makers. You can pick up our coffee here directly. Business customers are welcome for a conversation, a tasting or a tour.
