This coffee comes from the Coba station in Uraga, Guji, where cherries are collected from 116 independent growers farming between 2,100 and 2,300 meters above sea level. The station is managed by Habtamu Fekadu Aga, whose long-standing commitment to quality and fairness has shaped his work in the region. Coba is not just a place but it’s also the name for the leaf of a banana plant, traditionally used in baking and weaving. It reflects the connection between land, culture, and everyday life in this part of Ethiopia.
This coffee is rich, sweet and balanced, with bright acidity and a round, soft mouthfeel. The profile leans into floral and stone fruit qualities, with subtle notes reminiscent of elderflower, bergamot, peach and lightly baked biscuit.
This is the first time we are working with Fahman Yoga, a former professional footballer who returned to his native village of Kenawat in the Gayo region of Sumatra. After decades of armed conflict and the 2004 tsunami, the village’s coffee farms were abandoned and coffee buyers avoided the region.
Fahman is helping revive coffee production in Kenawat. He manages his own farm and collaborates with neighboring producers, creating a network of agroforestry farms shaded by different tree species. Their work provides opportunities for young people in the village to return to coffee cultivation and makes Aceh a coffee-producing region that counts.
