What a weekend!

On Saturday, September 27, the Dutch AeroPress Championship 2025 took place — one of the most beloved and creative coffee competitions in the Netherlands. And we’re proud to announce that Bart van Lent is the new Dutch AeroPress Champion 2025!

After already achieving an impressive second place in 2021, Bart managed to claim the top spot this year. In December, he will represent the Netherlands at the World AeroPress Championship in Seoul.

The Competition

The Dutch AeroPress Championship is the competition for baristas who want to showcase their creativity and technical skills using the AeroPress brewing method. The format is playful yet challenging:

• Each participant receives 250 grams of coffee beforehand to develop their ultimate recipe.

• This year, there were 48 competitors in total.

• The competition consisted of three rounds:

  • Knock-out round: Four baristas go head-to-head, with only the winners moving on.

  • Semi-finals: Four rounds featuring the winners of the knock-out stage.

  • Final: The last four competitors battle it out for the title.

All brews are judged blindly by three judges and a head judge, who ultimately decide which cup of coffee is the best.

Bart’s Winning Recipe

Bart impressed the judges with his balanced, clean, and expressive cup. For all coffee lovers out there, we’re excited to share his winning recipe:

Recipe details:

• Inverted position

• Double paper filter (rinsed)

• Brita filtered water (Purity C1100 XtraSafe)

• 18 g India Mooleh Manay

• 120 ml brew water (88 °C)

• 70 ml dilution (88 °C)

• 26 clicks on Comandante grinder

Brew process:

1. Pour 120 ml of 88 °C water over 18 g of coffee.

2. Stir 30 times (10/10/10), place the cap, and press out excess air.

3. Flip at 1:30.

4. Press from 1:35 to 2:00.

5. Add 70 ml of filtered water (88 °C).
