This coffee comes from Gatina Factory in Nyeri, Kenya, part of the Mugaga Farmers Cooperative Society. Around 709 smallholder farmers cultivate coffee on the rich volcanic soils surrounding Mount Kenya where high altitude, cool temperatures, and fertile land create ideal conditions for exceptional coffee.
With the combination of careful farming, selective harvesting, and processing in perfection the producers managed to create that unmistakable character that has made Nyeri famous.

Only the ripest berries are handpicked and delivered to Gatina Factory, where they are carefully sorted before being depulped. The coffee is fermented overnight to remove the remaining mucilage, after which they are fully washed with fresh water from the nearby Gatina River.
The parchment is dried slowly on raised African beds for around two to three weeks. During drying, the coffee is turned and sorted regularly to ensure an even moisture content while preserving sweetness, clarity, and structure.

This lot consists primarily of SL28 and SL34, together with small amounts of Batian and Ruiru 11. The classic SL varieties provide vibrant acidity, layered berry notes, and syrupy sweetness, while Batian and Ruiru 11 contribute structure, balance, and resilience.
Grown at high altitude, these varieties consistently produce the bright, juicy, and expressive profiles that have made Kenyan coffee world renowned.
This lot is everything we love about a great Kenyan coffee. Expect juicy blackcurrant, ripe citrus, layered sweetness, and a lingering herbal complexity. The cup is vibrant, structured, and beautifully clean, finishing with the syrupy sweetness that keeps you coming back for another sip.
