This coffee comes from Badaye in Gomma, within Ethiopia's Jimma Zone, and is produced by Ahmed Abateman. Ahmed manages the Badeyi processing station together with the Echemo and Loya Sedi stations and works closely with a large network of outgrower farmers.
The station sits at around 1,970 metres, surrounded by fertile highland farms. In Gomma, coffee has been cultivated for centuries by smallholder farmers who traditionally grow their coffee under native forest trees. This mixed farming system combines coffee with food crops and supports the rich biodiversity of the region.
Ahmed and his team focus strongly on quality, organic farming and traceability. They also work with farmers on composting and sustainable agricultural practices. Ahmed supports the local infrastructure and community projects, including roads, schools and an agroforestry nursery.

The coffee is produced from traditional Ethiopian heirloom varieties and processed as a honey. Most of the cherries are sourced from surrounding outgrower farms, while a smaller part comes from Ahmed’s own farm.
After processing, the coffee is carefully dried on raised African beds. The Badeyi station uses dedicated drying beds for the different stages of the process, allowing the coffee to dry slowly and evenly. This careful approach helps preserve sweetness, fruit character and structure.

This lot consists of traditional Ethiopian heirloom varieties. These local varieties are closely linked to the coffee forests of the Jimma region and are known for their floral character, fruit sweetness and complexity.
Expect a sweet and expressive Ethiopian with ripe fruit, floral sweetness and a rounded body. The honey process adds extra sweetness and texture, while the high-altitude growing conditions keep the cup lively and complex.
