Guatemala - La Libertad (Washed)
Guatemala - La Libertad (Washed)
A bold and creamy cup which is caramel-like and nutty.
This high-altitude coffee is produced in the La Libertad terroir, the highest municipality in the Huehuetenango region. The coffee grows at an average altitude of 1600 meters, surrounded by towering mountain peaks.
Finca La Bolsa
The coffee is a blend of two varieties, Red Bourbon and Caturra, harvested at optimum maturity and produced by several farmers from the region. These farmers carefully select only the ripe cherries, which are then transported to a centralized washing station, Finca La Bolsa, where the processing takes place.
In the region, most producers farm 1-10 hectares of coffee, but our partners’ uniquely sized plots eliminate the need for sourcing from multiple producers. This grants them full control over the wet processing stages: depulping, fermentation, washing, and drying. This process preserves the coffee bean qualities and flavours, resulting in a cleaner and brighter flavour profile compared to other processing methods.
Flavour profile
The coffee is cultivated in the characteristic limestone soil of the Huehuetenango region. This soil imparts excellent bean quality, a unique acidity, and a chocolaty and spicy flavour profile to the coffee. We roast this coffee to a rather developed stage to enhance its chocolaty profile while ensuring a touch of that beautiful acidity remains.

- Posted by: Ton Akveld on 26 January 2024Een kwalitatief goede en goed gebrande koffie. Alleen niet helemaal mijn smaak. Naar mijn idee mist deze de ruwe robuustheid van El Toston en de zoete charme van Vila Galicia en Santa Julia.
