The Rwenzori region which is located on the border of Uganda and the Republic of Congo. Mount Rwenzori is historically known as the Mountain of the Moon and is one of the last remaining African summits with eternal snow. Rwenzori is the local term for ‘’water maker’’. The glaciers provide this area from water.
This coffee comes from a very passionate exporter who is doing everything to increase the awareness of the quality of his coffee. The cherry selection is very precise and only fully matured cherries are handpicked. There are 7,000 producers involved in this project, who benefit from training provided at their plantations or at a pilot farm. Because of this education the coffee in this area is getting better every year!
Not just education is making this coffee delicious, also the fortunate terroir makes this area perfect for coffee growing. This area has a very fertile soil, a favourable microclimate and full of trees to provide shade on the farm.
You can expect a sweet, funky and process driven coffee. We roasted this coffee fairly light to highlight the fruitiness. At the same time it is developed enough to make it easy to extract and give you a full-bodied and creamy espresso.
