Kenya - Ndunduri
Here it is, our first fresh Kenyan coffee of the season!
This time it comes from the Ndunduri factory which is located at the steps of Mount Kenya and was founded in the early 70’s. Ndunduri is receiving assistance from Coffee Management Services (CMS) to provide the cooperating farmers with good agricultural support.
All the participating smallholders collect their perfectly ripe cherries by hand and deliver them to the factory. Then the coffee is ‘’wet-processed’’. They use a disc pulper to carefully remove the skin and fruit before fermenting it overnight to break down the sugars. Then the coffee is cleaned, soaked and spread out on raised drying tables. Depending on the climate, temperature and volume of the coffee it takes about 7 to 15 days to dry.
According to us a Kenyan coffee has to be extremely sweet and juicy, but above all it has to give you a huge punch of mouth-watering acidity.
Ndunduri will not disappoint you in this! It’s super sweet and floral, with that classic rhubarb like tarness and deep cherry and strawberry-like sweetness.
