Muchagara Factory is named after one of the villages in Kirinyaga County. The factory was opened for processing in 1959 making it the oldest wet processing centre in Kirinyaga. The area is very fertile for agricultural production and therefore making the factory very viable to be built in that location.
Muchagara has been one of those unexpected coffees. The manager, David Shege has only been at Muchagara for the past 2 years but he produces an amazing quality and expressive coffees.
The fermentation is done in tiled fermentation tanks with fresh water. After washing and grading in chanels the coffee is sundried on raised beds.
