La mochilita means '' small backpack '' in Spanish. Searching for beautiful coffee farms, the discoverer of this plantation has traveled a lot in this region. Always with his backpack on his back!
The plantation is located at an altitude of 1500 to 1900 meters on the Libertad terroir in the Huehuetenango region and is therefore one of the highest situated plantation in the region.
La Mochilita grows the varieties Red bourbon and Caturra. The altitude and the lime bottom gives this coffee the unique Huehuetenango characteristics and a taste profile of dark chocolate, spices and red fruit.
Most farmers in this area have small plantations, which means that the coffees of different farmers have to be blended on common wet- and dry mills. La Mochilita is large enough to carry out all the process steps itself and therefore controls the quality of the coffee itself. The result is a year after year very high quality.
