The Bensa washing station delivered great coffees this year! It is located between the borders of Sidamo and West Arsi right next to the national park of Bale Mountain. The variety of profiles from this region is astonishing. This particular coffee is intensely tropical and blackcurrant like, with great balance and acidity, high level of sweetness and complexity. The washing station is owned by Testi Coffee Exporters. They work together with 800 active farmers who deliver cherries. Testi offers coffee at different quality and price levels, including this high end specialty level. The main focus from Testi is about sharp focus on improvement and reproducibility. Cherries are collected manually and hand sorted later. The best cherries are determined by density. The lower density beans will float on the water and are removed, leaving only the denser beans for the specialty lots. The cherries well treated and are slowly dried on African beds. Beside producing great coffee, Testi is helping the community by employing about twenty permanent staff members and helped building two schools in Guji and Yirgacheffe. Right now he is working on building water pumps to give the community access to clean drinking water. All this makes taste this coffee even better! Big change this will turn in to our top favourite coffees from this year! We hope you will enjoy it as well!
