Most of the coffees from Ethiopia are blends from several small farmers who bring their harvest to a washing station. However, this coffee is 100% from the farmer Fatene Balesi. Fatene is running his farm from just 2.6 hectares together with his family. It is located in Daro kebele (2030m) in the Woreda district.
When Fatene was young he started coffee cultivation on the plot of land given to him by his father. They also grow Enset (false banana) which is a staple food in the Gedeo zone. In order to provide enough shade for the coffee plants, it is prohibited to cut shade trees on the farm. There is no use of any chemical fertilizer but they use there own biological produced fertilizer. To make sure they can reproduce good coffee year after year the farm works with a permanent crew for the harvest.
